- 9th and 10th graders, you are just starting high school and may be looking towards the future and more specifically college, some advice I can give to you.
- Keep your grades up, do all the classes that are required stay on top of the credits you need, don’t be taking free periods now just challenge yourself, maybe take an AP corse.
- Start thinking about junior year for all the 10th graders, what classes are interesting to you, load up on more APs, colleges want to see not only improvement from lower years but rigor.
- Outside of school start thinking about about motivates you, what you enjoy doing in your free time, other than social media. Maybe you like to make/watch movies or perhaps you’re a dedicated reader. What makes you interesting and how can you show colleges that you’re moving towards your passion.
- 11th graders, things are finally getting more serious, but it’s also getting fun. Juniors, this semester is super important and its very important that you are staying on top of every assignment. Keeping grades up this semester will be a great look for collages. Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t do too good last semester, improvement is amazing, thats what matters!
- Start taking note of you’re extracurriculars, anything that you enjoy doing out of school (sports, volunteer work, clubs, any activities) Remember to stray towards something related to what you want to do with your future. Look into internships this summer or jobs, something to fill up your free time besides social media and scrolling on your phone, any important thing that shows you have responsibility is great.
- Don’t forget to have fun most of all! School can get very stressful, especially these next couple of months. Take some time for yourself to relax and clear your head.
- Seniors your last year in high school, as children, for lots of you last year at home. Take this time to start acting more independent, take some initiative and prepare for the future.
